Data & Solutions Engineer

About the Role

This is a client-facing technical role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable data and application solutions. This role combines expertise in data engineering, backend development, cloud technologies, and solution architecture to deliver business value through modern data platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, present solution designs, conduct whiteboard sessions and technical demonstrations, and build robust data-driven applications. Strong communication, consulting, and presentation skills are essential, alongside hands-on experience in software engineering, data integration, cloud platforms, and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions across multiple data sources.

• Build and support backend applications, APIs, and cloud-native services that enable data-driven business solutions.

• Design data models, database schemas, and application data structures to meet business and technical requirements.

• Integrate data from databases, APIs, files, third-party platforms, and cloud services.

• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and performance through appropriate controls, monitoring, and best practices.

• Develop and optimize cloud-based solutions using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud technologies.

• Create reusable frameworks, automation tools, and integration services to improve delivery efficiency.

• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment activities, and CI/CD processes.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, applications, integrations, and cloud environments.

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, developers, product owners, and business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

• Conduct client workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, solution walkthroughs, and whiteboard presentations to explain technical concepts and proposed solutions.

• Engage directly with clients to understand business challenges, recommend solutions, and build trusted relationships.

• Prepare and present technical demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and solution proposals.

• Document solution architectures, data flows, APIs, and operational procedures.

• Continuously learn and contribute to projects involving Denodo and related technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 4 years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Application Development, or Solution Engineering.

• Strong experience with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.

• Hands-on experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data platforms.

• Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, and structured and semi-structured data.

• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages.

• Experience developing backend applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik View, or ThoughtSpot.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Athena, or Redshift is advantageous.

• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile delivery practices, and software engineering best practices.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration, and cloud-native application design.

• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong client-facing, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience conducting solution demonstrations, workshops, whiteboard sessions, and technical presentations for customers and business stakeholders.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and consulting skills.

Preferred

• Experience in customer-facing consulting, solution architecture, or pre-sales support roles.

• Exposure to Denodo, Databricks, Data Factory, BigQuery, Redshift, or similar modern data platforms.

• Experience leading technical discussions and architecture reviews with clients and stakeholders.
